Office of Diversity and Equity
At Brooklyn College, we believe that diversity is one of our greatest assets, and fostering this diversity is central to our mission. The Office of Diversity and Equity provides education about and facilitates the college’s compliance with state and federal affirmative action and nondiscrimination laws, including laws prohibiting sexual harassment. The office also implements university policies that enforce those laws.
How to Report Discrimination and Sex-Based Misconduct
Brooklyn College complies with the City University of New York Policy on Equal Opportunity and Non-Discrimination and prohibits discrimination and harassment based on race, color, creed, national origin, ethnicity, ancestry, religion (including antisemitism and Islamophobic discrimination), age, sex (including pregnancy, childbirth, and related conditions), sexual orientation, gender, gender identity, marital status, partnership status, disability, genetic information, alienage, citizenship, military or veteran status, status as a victim of domestic violence/stalking/sex offenses, unemployment status, or any other legally prohibited basis in accordance with federal, state, and city laws.

Brooklyn College also prohibits sex-based misconduct in accord with the CUNY Policy on Sex-Based Misconduct (PDF).
The Office of Diversity and Equity also serves as the Section 504 coordinator for the college and hears appeals of the denial of requests for reasonable accommodation pursuant to the CUNY Policy on Reasonable Accommodations and Academic Adjustments.
To file a complaint of discrimination, harassment, or sex-based misconduct, contact the Title IX coordinator (contact information below) and/or complete and submit the appropriate complaint form:
- For complaints regarding discrimination and/or retaliation, complete the form found on the CUNY University-Wide Discrimination and Retaliation Reporting Portal.
- For complaints regarding sex-based misconduct, complete the Sex-Based Misconduct Complaint Form.

Training
The Office of Diversity and Equity offers training to increase awareness about implicit bias, promote fairness and equity in the college’s search and hiring process, and facilitate compliance with university nondiscrimination policies.
